WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar has announced that he has re-signed with the WWE during an interview with ESPN on Tuesday. This was followed by WWE COO Paul Levesque (Triple H), who confirmed, via Twitter, that Lesnar had signed to a "multi-year" contract with the company.
Lesnar committing to the WWE ends the rumours of a possible return to UFC, a possibility which was covered widely as a result of his current deal running up shortly after Wrestlemania 31.
Lesnar originally returned to the WWE in 2012, engaging in rivalries with John Cena and Triple H. It was in 2014 when the Beast Incarnate left an irremovable mark on the WWE as the 37-year-old ended the Undertaker's historic 21-0 undefeated streak at Wrestlemania 30 and then defeating John Cena at Summerslam for the WWE WHC in what proved to be a MASSIVELY one-sided title match.
As per Tyler Conway (@tylerconway22) of Bleacher Report, this renewal introduces a sense of unpredictability to Wrestlemania this coming Sunday where Lesnar faces the winner of the Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns, for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
The match between these 2 competitors seemed destined to be a victory for the 29-year-old Reigns at the Showcase of the Immortals. However, this latest update regarding Lesnar, and the timing of it all, means that the main-event of the extravaganza may not be such a foregone conclusion.
