Unless something incredible happens between now and WrestleMania, it seems set in stone that Bray Wyatt will take on the Undertaker at this year's Showcase of the Immortals. However, I cannot help but think that this match comes a year too late.
At WrestleMania 30, Brock Lesnar achieved the impossible by ending the Undertaker's 21-0 undefeated WrestleMania streak with the help of three F-5s.
The result of this victory was a year of unrivalled dominance for Lesnar as he defeated John Cena in as much a squash match as you can imagine at Summerslam to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. From there, he beat Cena again at Night Of Champions before tearing the house down at the Royal Rumble in a triple threat match against Seth Rollins and John Cena.
That year of dominance looks set to be brought to an end at WrestleMania when he takes on the winner of the Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns, in a match which will see the latter beat the former for the WWE WHC.
Bray Wyatt will have his shot at the Undertaker this year. However, despite how massive a victory over the Phenom would undoubtedly be, a Wyatt win would feel somewhat empty compared to what it could have been. Lesnar has already beaten the Undertaker to bring the record to 21-1 so what would be so historic about Wyatt making it 21-2? Nothing really.
As I have already said, a victory over Taker will be massive for the career for Wyatt, but having the Reaper of Souls become the 1 in 21-1 would have made a lot more sense in the long run.
Rather than have Lesnar beat Taker at WM30, WWE would have been much better off giving the opportunity to Wyatt for the simple reason that Wyatt needs it a lot more than Lesnar did.
Lesnar is a freak of nature physically. He is a man that could smash my skull with one hand in a second. His legacy and impact on the WWE is undoubtable and impressive. He has beaten the likes of the Rock. HHH, Kurt Angle and the Undertaker before so he does not need to prove how dominant he is. He could have taken a loss to the Undertaker without any damage. Hell, even in defeat, he could have mounted a challenge for the WWE title simply because he is BROCK LESNAR.
Bray Wyatt, on the other hand, is a young competitor trying to find his feet in the company. He seemed to have found his place before he was sacrificed against John Cena at last year's WrestleMania. It took half a year for Wyatt to rebuild momentum after that defeat which was half a year wasted. Rather than having to save his place in the WWE, Wyatt could have been challenging for the WWE WHC had the creative staff done what should have been done by having Wyatt beat John Cena, a star whose place in the company is iron clad.
Ending the Streak would have sent Wyatt's career onto an incredible level. It would have been a springboard for him to enter the main-event picture, a position he thoroughly belongs in.
More importantly, it would have helped establish a career which would last for years and years to come. Judging by Bray's persona, he is set to become the new-Undertaker in the WWE and there is no better way for that to happen than for Wyatt to have beaten the Undertaker to end the Undertaker's greatest achievement.
Bray Wyatt beating the Undertaker is a massive moment, don't get me wrong, but I can't help but think that the WWE missed a massive opportunity by not having Bray Wyatt end the Undertaker's undefeated Streak.
What do you think? Will Wyatt beating Taker send Bray's career to a whole new level or do you think that the WWE would have been better off having Wyatt become the 1 in 21-1? Leave any of your comments below!
